Hello, and welcome to Proskenion. This website has been created in order to share my research with others, which can be found under the research section. I am currently working on two projects; the first, the subject of my thesis and my primary emphasis, is an exploration into deviant subcultures in synthetic worlds--those who have been labeled as griefers and terrorists. My second project deals with the impact that artificial environments, namely those in games, have upon the interactions found among the gamers in question. Hopefully, this may interest you as much as it does me. My research section is, however, mainly designed for academics and will deal with a lot of the minutiae of designing and researching a project such as this. But fear not, there is more to this website than my own personal work. In the news section (and in the handy blog section, which gives an easy to read list of everything published on this site) you will find articles I have found that relate to my reasearch. So if you're interested in virtual/synthetic worlds, Second Life, gaming, the Penny Arcade Expo, or deviance and social control online, there's a good place to look. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, of if you are involved in a similar project.
